Importance of Stretching

We have all been there, soaked in sweat and breathless at the end of a long run or brutal lifting session. Most of us tap out and call it a day but we miss one VERY IMPORTANT piece to the fitness puzzle…stretching! Not only does stretching promote flexibility, it is also a key aspect to preventing injuries. For those of you that take pride in battling gravity by lifting those heavy weights, stretching can increase a muscle’s power output. So, if you are looking for a way to break that lifting plateau, try adding a stretching routine!

Cardio not giving you the results you want? Try intervals!

Interval training refers to high intensity exercise followed by low intensity exercise in a continuous pattern. This technique raises your metabolism considerably and after you are done working out you are still burning calories as your body tries to recover!!! A great interval workout is a 30 second sprint followed by a 30 second jog. Repeat this pattern for 20 minutes for an awesome calorie burn. You can use this technique on a treadmill, bike, elliptical, or even a track!

What is the secret to burning fat? LIFT WEIGHTS!

While doing countless hours of cardio does burn calories, the most efficient way to burn fat and keep it off is to lift weights. Lifting weights builds muscle, and muscle is what burns fat. So instead of simply hopping on that treadmill everyday, try and work in a weight lifting routine that hits all the major muscle groups (Back, Chest, Abs and Legs!) I promise you…this works!
